Really well done here Rob, I enjoyed this article. I have taught in North Carolina public schools for 25 years now and have coached as well. I have worked with enough young people at this point to know a special one when I see it. The traits Rett possesses as far as his leadership skills, character, and the way he carries himself are even more impressive than his elite baseball ability. We are lucky to have him in Wolfpack nation!

He is just built different . His intangibles make him off the chart special. He is gonna be great at every level. He refuses to be anything less. I

Thank you. I genuinely appreciate the kind words.

In some instances as a writer, you need to simply let others tell the story. The quotes from Rett's parents and his former coach sufficed in my opinion. They are descriptive enough.

There was no real need to talk to NC State folks, as we all see Rett every day.

There was also no need to write long or detailed insertions, as the word count would have gotten much higher, and my words would then drown out the words of his parents and Coach Pate. Their words, along with Rett's words and actions, are the story, so I really did not have to do much at all. I just stayed out of the way.
