RELEASE: NC State Baseball Sees Four Players Receive All-ACC Honors

Four members of the NC State baseball team earned All-ACC honors, the conference announced Monday afternoon.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Four members of the NC State baseball team earned All-ACC honors, the conference announced Monday afternoon. Freshman outfielder Rett Johnson and junior infielder Luke Nixon were named to the All-ACC Second Team, while sophomore outfielder Ty Head and junior infielder Sherman Johnson earned All-ACC Third Team honors. Rett Johnson also earned a spot on the ACC All-Freshman Team.

Rett Johnson, Sherman Johnson, and Nixon each earned All-ACC recognition for the first time in their careers. Head earned Third Team honors one season after earning a place on the ACC All-Freshman team.

This marks the eighth consecutive season under Elliott Avent in which the Wolfpack has had five or more players receive All-ACC honors.


Rett Johnson | Fr. | OF | Second Team All-ACC & All-Freshman Team

Rett Johnson earned Second Team All-ACC and All-Freshman Team honors after finishing the 2026 regular season with a .397 batting average, the third-best in the conference. He had one home run, 31 RBI, and 54 runs scored, while leading the Wolfpack with a .504 on-base percentage and a 27-game hitting streak to end the regular season. Johnson played in 51 games with 50 starts. He is the first freshman to make an All-ACC team and an All-Freshman team since Tommy White in 2022.

Luke Nixon | Jr. | 2B | Second Team All-ACC

Luke Nixon earned Second Team All-ACC honors after posting a .358 batting average with eight home runs, 42 RBI, and 55 runs scored during the 2026 regular season. He led the Wolfpack with 16 doubles, three triples, and 118 total bases, and he recorded 20 multi-hit games, all career bests. Nixon set a career high with four hits in game two at Florida State. He started all 53 games at second base for the Wolfpack.

Ty Head | So. | OF | Third Team All-ACC

Ty Head earned Third Team All-ACC honors after batting .288 with a team-best 13 home runs, 46 RBI, and a team-leading 59 runs scored during the 2026 regular season. He also paced the Wolfpack with 54 walks, moving into sole possession of second place for the most walks in a single season in program history. Head started all 53 games in center field for NC State.

Sherman Johnson | Jr. | 3B | Third Team All-ACC

Sherman Johnson earned Third Team All-ACC honors after finishing the 2026 regular season. with a .345 batting average, nine home runs, 48 RBI, and 39 runs scored. He enters the ACC tournament on an 18-game hitting streak, and eight of the last eight Wolfpack home runs, five have been from Johnson. He appeared in 51 games with 48 starts for the Wolfpack.


NC State opens the postseason at 9 a.m. in Charlotte at the ACC Championships. The Wolfpack enters the tournament as the No. 9 seed and will face in-state rival Duke. NC State won the regular-season series against the Blue Devils, taking two of three games in Raleigh.

Ty third team? I don't agree with that at all. 2nd team at the very least. His late season batting hurt him, I guess...
