Getting the #8 seed is big, because the top 8 seeds get to host the Super Regional (Sweet 16 Round) on their home court, where we would potentially face #9 Texas (on either May 8th or 9th).

I was initially thinking that the 2nd Round match would be played on Sunday, May 3rd...based on the dates on Gopack that said "May 1-3" for the 1st and 2nd rounds. But per that graphic, it appears the 2nd Round match will be on Saturday, May 2nd.

The 2nd Round opponent will likely be UCF, who is no slouch and was ranked #21 in the latest rankings that came out last week (April 21st). Hopefully, we get a good home crowd for that one, as they deserve it and they could use the support to push past UCF.

The first round match is this Friday, May 1st, at 5:00 pm against Morgan State...on our home courts, the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center, located directly across from the Doak baseball stadium.

There is a home baseball game on this day at 6:00 pm against Miami. So, to park to go to the tennis match, you can't just park in that parking lot located right adjacent to the tennis courts and behind the baseball stadium. The West Deck parking deck on Varsity Drive (only a 4-5 minute walk to the courts) is closest and best option.

Also, want to add that there is no ticket required for the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd round matches. I've gone to all of the women's NCAA tournament matches hosted at NC State's home court since 2023, and they've all been completely free, no ticket required…including the Super Regional they hosted in 2023.

Per this GoPack article, the 2nd round match will be on Saturday (May 2nd) at 2:00 pm. And admission is confirmed to be free, with no ticket required.

Reminder that you will need a free parking permit to park on campus (in the West Deck) if you plan on parking in the deck prior to 5:00pm, since it is a weekday. Or if you only park 10 minutes prior to 5:00pm, you could just risk going without the permit, as I doubt they will have people looking to hand out tickets only 5-10 minutes before 5:00pm.

Admission is free, and fans planning to attend this weekend's matches should park in the West Parking Deck and must obtain a virtual parking permit. Instructions for registering for the permit can be found here.

Just saw on the official team social media that the match "will not start before 6:00 pm". That means they want to play it outdoors. Looks like the rain will be gone here in the next 10-15 minutes, but will probably take an hour or so to dry the courts off from the rain that has fallen.

Won in 1st round today 5-0 over Morgan State. Per official team social, 2nd round match is scheduled for 3pm tomorrow (Saturday) against # 20 UCF.

Right now, forecast looks like rain from 8am to noon or 1pm, and a temperature of around 55 at match time. If that is accurate looks like they should be able to get the courts dry by 3 pm, and hopefully not too cold to play outside. Whether played indoor or outdoor, hope we get a decent crowd tomorrow to help lift the team past UCF.

With the win, NC State advances to the second round for the seventh consecutive season and is one win away from its seventh straight Sweet 16 appearance. The Wolfpack will face No. 20 UCF in the second round for the second year in a row after defeating the Knights 4-1 at home last season.

Even though it's a little bit of an inconvenience to delay matches for weather, I fully support it because IMO it's just such a better atmosphere/environment to play the match outdoors versus indoors.

Looks like the rain will be completely gone by around 1-2pm. But then they need probably at least 2 hours to dry the courts.

The weather forecast for around 5-7pm tonight actually looks nice, warming up from 53 currently to 57-58 degrees, and the sun maybe coming out with partly cloudy skies, only 4mph wind. Will be fairly pleasant weather to watch an outdoor tennis match. Looking forward to being there.

The match to determine the Wolfpack's opponent in the Sweet Sixteen round between Texas and Texas Tech is live right now. I'm watching on the live stream below. Texas Tech just won doubles and is up 1-0. I'd love to see Texas Tech upset Texas, and make it easier for the Wolfpack this coming Friday. Texas Tech is ranked #28.

Wolfpack will face Texas in the Super Regional. Texas over Texas Tech 4-2. The clinching singles match was 7-5 in the 3rd set. In the unfinished singles match, Texas was about to go up 2 games to love. Overall, Texas Tech played them close and they were only ranked #28. So Texas looks very beatable for the Wolfpack, IMO. And having our home crowd advantage should make a significant impact in our favor.

The Cracked Racquets guys give a preview of the Sweet 16 round matches in the following podcast. Starting at around 26:20 in this video, they preview the NC State vs Texas match. The guy giving the predictions, John, predicts NC State beats Texas 4-0.

Based on the little bit of research I've done, it looks like we should be significant favorites to win the doubles point against Texas. Texas lost the doubles point in both their 1st and 2nd round matches in this NCAA tournament last weekend. And the doubles point is always CRITICAL when two somewhat evenly matched teams are playing...not only for the final score (obviously), but for momentum going into singles. It looks like Texas could be favorites at the #1 and #2 singles matches, because their top 2 singles players are both ranked in the top 10. However, those rankings are not always that reliable, and both of those players for Texas have taken a lot of losses in the season. So it's possible that our top 2 singles players, Mia and Anna, could potentially win. But it looks like we will be slight to significant favorites in the #3 through #6 singles matches.

I checked on GoPack, and there is apparently no parking permit/pass needed for today's tennis match (even if parking prior to 5pm on campus on a weekday), as the article just says "parking is free". I also checked the parking permit "portal" and it doesn't list today's tennis match as an option (for even getting a permit).

And since there is not a home baseball game today, that means we are able to park in those parking lots located right beside the tennis complex and behind the baseball stadium.
