HE'S DRIVING A TOYOTA.

I actually started to get sucked in last evening there for a while when Byron was consistently lined up in the Top 3 on several of those mid-race restarts.

Then I fell asleep - and apparently he faded away towards the end...

*I do see that he ended up 4th - and Bowman actually in 5th even.

If I'm not mistaken Toyota is the only OEM that hasn't changed bodies in the Gen 7 car? This might explain some issues. Ford is just Ford right now.

Toyota is head and shoulders above both Ford and Chevrolet right now as far as manufacturers in the Cup series...

For sure. I read somewhere that folks have wondered if Ford and Chevy involved in F1 is taking resources from the cup side?

Oh the Toyotas are definitely ahead of Chevy and Ford right now. Thats been easy to see all year. Ford has been downright terrible.

With my comment about Gibbs, I was just surprised that he was that high. If someone had asked me to guess which Toyota was 4th in points before looking at it, I would have guessed Bell. Gibbs just isnt mentioned much during the races each week, but he's been quietly consistent.

Honestly, the one that surprises me the most is that Blaney has somehow gutted it out and is in 3rd in points with only 1 win and 3 Top 5's... way above where one would expect based on the current disparity in equipment.

Might actually be doing the best real "driving" job of anybody in the Cup series so far.*and yeah, I know that is kind of crazy to type with one guy that's won 5 races already and another with 4 - but...

Yep, that race yesterday was interesting. That track is bumpy and it kept them on their toes. Was better than watching them run around in ovals all day with no issues.

Why did it go away? Was it attendance or just a schedule refresh? Drivers seemed excited to be back.

It had struggled with attendance for many years. In fact NASCAR moved its date around trying to get folks to come and nothing seemed to work. The place was really close to being sold. Hopefully it's back next year.
