RCR will no longer run the 8. 33 instead 8 will be set aside for Brexton when he is ready.

Yep. I was right for once.

I don't know anything about that. I haven't heard or seen anything like that myself.

Reports are that he was racing in a simulator Wednesday and they found him unresponsive. Rushed to the Hospital and later died.

Sadly we now know from the 911 call that's not accurate. I almost wish it were because my hope would be that whatever caused him to be found unresponsive in the simulator would have been quick and painless. Now that we know he was awake, on the bathroom floor, experiencing shortness of breath/struggling to breathe, coughing up blood, and very hot (high fever), and feeling like he was going to pass out at the time the 911 call was placed on Wednesday evening is just awful and even more heartbreaking to hear.

Then the official announcement that he had passed away almost exactly 24 hours after that call..agonizing.

Plus he and Brexton had just been in Durham on Tuesday for the opening of the Andretti Karting place. So many more questions than answers right now outside of those on here who know significantly more in the way of details because of direct connections with members of his team.

Watched the pre-race events for tonight's truck race.....a lot of talk of KB and what he meant to the industry. A bunch of these young drivers came up through KBM and drove for him in super late models and trucks. Hitting them hard tonight, as they get comments from a bunch of them.

Good points, at one point KBM was a pipe line for so many teams and drivers. Sad that KB had to sell. I assume the Chevy money wasn't like the Toyota cash. Interesting tidbit, if Ford had put some money up for KB's truck team, Kyle would have drove for SHR and who knows what would have happened. Instead KB went to RCR. This is one of a few reasons Tony sold.

I tried to talk myself into them parking / displaying the number 8 car itself on the infield grass for the 600, but obviously I knew that wasn't possible. I think this is a nice tribute though, and I'm personally glad to see it.

Richard Childress Racing has elected to suspend use of the No. 8 and will run the No. 33 at Charlotte Motor Speedway and beyond. Kyle Busch was instrumental in the design of RCR's stylized No. 8 and it has become synonymous with Kyle and an important symbol for his fans and the NASCAR industry. No one can carry it forward to the level that he did. The No. 8 is reserved and ready for Brexton Busch when he is ready to go NASCAR racing.

Personally, I still equate the #8 with Dale Jr. and Budweiser more than I do anybody else... but I am encouraged to see how they have decided to handle this.
