EUGENE, OR - The Wolfpack closed out the 2026 outdoor season at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships with two First-Team All-America honors and two Second-Team All-America honor on the meet's final day.

Freshman Sadie Engelhardt capped off an impressive season by competing in the 1500m final, earning Second-Team All-America honors with an 11th-place finish in 4:16.96.

In the 3000m steeplechase, Angelina Napoleon delivered a season-best performance, clocking 9:35.56 to place fourth overall and secure First-Team All-America honors.

Not far behind was Kate Putman, who continued her remarkable rise in just her fifth-ever steeplechase race. Putman crossed the line in sixth in 9:45.96 to earn First-Team All-America honors and cap off an outstanding season.

The 5000m race capped off the meet for the Wolfpack. Hannah Gapes delivered a personal-best performance to earn Second-Team All-American honors. Her time of 15:25.93 ranks No. 4 all-time at NC State.

Bethany Michalak finished 18th overall in the 5000m, earning All-American honorable mention recognition.

Hannah Gapes gets yet another massive PR in the 1500m in 4:07.44! Every race she runs she is setting a new PR. In early April she sets a 5 sec PR in 4:11.37 (prev Pr was 4:16.87). At the outdoor nationals last weekend, she set a 13 sec PR in the 5k in 15:25.93.

The race start couldn't have gone worst for her, As soon as the gun went off, Hannah got boxed in on the rail and immediately was in last place and already 1 secs behind. She worked her way all the way to 4th place. Incredible comeback. Congrats.

(Note: the timing site says 4:07.44 is Division 1 #13 best time)

Heads up next Friday July 3rd-4th Sadie Engelhardt and Angelina Napoleon return to Hayward Field in Eugene for the Prefontaine Classic. Friday Jul 3rd is the 1500m and July 4th is the 3000m steeplechase.

Sadie Engelhardt was NC State's most-anticipated freshman, regardless of sport. She backed it up over the last 9 months:
