Whats roster number currently at? Are there a few guys expected to jump in the portal last minute? Seems a few guys folks expected havent jumped in. If no one else jumps in how many spots are left?

depends on the draft. 3 spots if all the potential draft guys go. 1 or 2 or none if the draft can break our way.

We could possibly see another player or two hit the portal before it closes in two days.

It just feels like baseball is starting to go the way of football for us. Having to shop on the "discount rack" and can't really afford the more coveted guys. I hate to see it in baseball but it feels that way. Like the market is getting more expensive each year and we are falling behind more as it does.
We really need an alum who loves the baseball program and is willing to foot the bill.

Yep. Was more wondering where State was sitting currently with roster number. If 34 is the ceiling and counting transfers, seniors and guys leaving for the draft how many spots are potentially available and how many are basically left with the transfers and incoming freshmen who are still committed? Also not counting guys who could potentially leave in the next couple of days.

BoRob just followed Connor Chicoli from the USC gamecocks. Connor spent a year at Ga Tech also.

Connor is from Garner, I believe and also attended the Pro5 Academy.

Genuinely asking this as I don't know: why? Did he flash at any point in the last 2 seasons? Seems kind of odd to go all in on a guy who got limited pt his first 2 seasons here

He has a good eye at the plate, for a 2 year total his K rate is like 20% which is fine for a power hitter (more walks than Ks). He has insane power. He is hitting the ball well this summer. IF (big if) it clicks for him, he is a 15+ HR guy next year. The key is going to be hitting good pitching consistently, and hopefully he can do that.

FWIW I am not saying we should be all in with Novy, just giving a little context as to why it could make sense. No one has seen Novy take more cuts than Hart, it could be his first "big" decision when it comes to personnel

He reminds me of Judd Utermark from Ole Miss. Utermark (from Charlotte actually) is a big 6'5 245 that hit .135 and .230 his first 2 years at ole miss with a high K rate in minimal ABs. Last 2 years he hit .294 and .309 with 22 homeruns both years. Obviously, that would be absolute best case scenario for Novy, but it's possible

Fine with Novy, should be a true three outcome player. Give him constant AB's, live with the strike outs and hope he hits 15-20 home runs.

From Georgia and he looks to be fast as sht. PG says he ran a 6.44 60 at some point.

can play all 3 OF positions.

Him, Rhett and Alm might be the fastest OF we've ever had if it holds.
